The SEC is set for a huge week because of four teams that all have the same goals of winning the SEC and of clinching a college football playoff birth. The consistent Crimson Tide of Alabama look to extend their playoff streak to 5 years in a row. The Tigers of LSU push to make their first appearance and establish themselves as a powerhouse again. The vengeful Georgia Bulldogs looks to get a shot at redemption from last year’s championship defeat. Lastly, the plucky underdog Kentucky Wildcats, who are one of the biggest surprises this season, look to prove this team is for real. Let’s break down what I am calling “The SEC Playoff.” Continue Reading!
Ohio State’s weaknesses as a team have been thrusted into the spotlight during these past few weeks. This all culminated with the drubbing that Ohio State just took on the road. The Purdue Boilermakers pulled an “Iowa” on Ohio State, as this is the second year in a row where the Buckeyes were blown out by a Big Ten West team that was wearing all black uniforms on the road. How did this happen? Continue Reading!
As we head into another week of college football, we are looking at many more incredible matchups, both ranked and unranked alike. Below, I will be predicting the biggest games of week three.
#12 LSU at #7 Auburn 3:30 PM ET (CBS)
Only three weeks in and we are already gearing up for our first blockbuster showdown in the SEC West. The Tigers, fresh off obliterating Miami and Southeastern Louisiana, look to keep the momentum going. Quarterback Joe Burrow has been just as good as advertised and the The Tigers defense has been lights out. Despite great performances thus far, I don’t foresee them getting past Auburn. Auburn possesses a veteran QB in Jarrett Stidham and a downright nasty defensive line. This one will be a close and low scoring affair.
Auburn 20 vs LSU 17
#17 Boise State at #24 Oklahoma State 3:30 PM ET (ESPN)
If you love offensive fireworks and stellar quarterback play, this is the game for you. Seasoned veteran Brett Rypien comes into this game having amassed 667 YDS and 7 TDS passing; meanwhile, Cowboy quarterback and first year starter Taylor Cornelius has racked up 728 YDS and 6 TDS though the air. Boise State is the favorite to gain the at-large New Years Six bowl bid from the Group of Five, and Saturday will be a huge statement win towards achieving that goal.
Boise State 49 at Oklahoma State 45
#22 USC at Texas 8 PM ET (Fox)
Two teams that have looked suspect so far in this young season are preparing to go to battle. USC, fresh off of an uninspiring performance against Stanford, is looking to right the ship against fellow blue blood Texas. True freshman quarterback JT Daniels has shown flashes of brilliance and has the makings of a future star. The Longhorns have looked questionable at best this season. After losing to a Maryland program shrouded in uncertainty, then eking by Tulsa, Texas may be in for a long season. Look for JT Daniels to mature in a hostile environment as he leads the Trojans to their second victory of the year
USC 35 at Texas 24
#4 Ohio State vs #15 TCU (Arlington, TX) 8 PM ET (ABC)
While technically a neutral site game, this has all the makings of a home game for the Frogs. TCU’s sophomore quarterback has shown great maturity and poise in managing games, even when his performance slips. A humming offense coupled with strong defensive play makes this TCU team dangerous. Gary Patterson always has his guys juiced for big games, and this should be more of the same. The Buckeyes come into this test with a two headed monster at both quarterback and running back. Although they played less than stellar competition, Dwayne Haskins has looked like a Heisman Trophy contender. I anticipate this game to be closer than expected as both teams look to add a signature win to their resumé.
It was same old same old in college football this past season. Alabama won the National Championship. A year after getting shocked by Clemson in the national title game, the Tide got revenge on the Tigers and won a thrilling national championship game against Georgia. Now Alabama has the familiar task of defending their title. This is always a challenge for any team, but it will be especially hard for Bama this year. Read Full Article Here!
